Identification with Place and Place Identity: The Perspective of the Mental Maps of the Inhabitants of Enclaves of Poverty

Enclaves of poverty are spaces social stigmatization that can foster exclusion as well enhance the impression it. At same time, they milieus in lives specific human beings who co-inhabit and co-create these spaces; a home base – place safety, one is source satisfaction identification. The circumstances constituting distinguishing ecosystems were inspirations for research conducted 2014–2016 enclaves located two large cities rural areas Poland to identify ways valuing mental mapping performed by people living there. Based on results author’s research, article discusses three complementary issues covering identifying space, with identity. It focuses cognitive practical value such findings, which go beyond simplified generalized thinking about poverty, revealing potentials various neighbourhoods complexity people’s connections place.
